He satisfieth the longing soul,
and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.
Psalm 107:9
All my life I had a longing
For a drink from some clear spring,
That I hoped would quench the burning
Of the thirst I felt within.
Feeding on the husks around me,
Till my strength was almost gone,
Longed my soul for something better,
Only still to hunger on.
Poor I was, and sought for riches,
Something that would satisfy,
But the dust I gathered round me
Only mocked my soul’s sad cry.
Well of water, ever springing,
Bread of life so rich and free,
Untold wealth that never faileth,
My Redeemer is to me.
Refrain:
Hallelujah! I have found Him
Whom my soul so long has craved!
Jesus satisfies my longings,
Through His blood I now am saved.
That's so nice! Is it a hymn? I've never heard it before.
ReplyDeleteYes, Felicity ~ it's from our hymnbook (altho the first line is slightly differently worded ~ this is how the words are given at the online hymn sources). I added a link so you can hear the tune. Enjoy! (much better on a real piano)
ReplyDeleteI came to know Jesus Christ as my personal Savior as an adult, so the words have a greater appeal to me than perhaps to some ~ but Christ is our only Redeemer whether old or young! ♥
ReplyDeleteAmen, my friend ... great hymn (I have heard/sung it in the past). THanks for the encouraging reminder for today. <3
