of cattle and neckties

My dad stopped yesterday for some quick hugs before leaving town today... He said he had mentioned to a friend that this grandson was a good farmer, but he also liked to wear a tie.
Here's the Cattleman "preaching" to his sister - sans necktie and "Dep" - I'll have to be sure to get a better picture next time he's slicked up.
...and one of our black beauties on the right side of the fence this day...

the beauty of Proverbs

Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise,
and apply thine heart unto my knowledge.
For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee;
they shall withal be fitted in thy lips.
That thy trust may be in the LORD,
I have made known to thee this day, even to thee.
Have not I written to thee excellent things
in counsels and knowledge,
That I might make thee know
the certainty of the words of truth;
that thou mightest answer
the words of truth
to them that send unto thee?
Proverbs 22:17-21

wisdom

James 1:5
If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God,
that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not;
and it shall be given him.
The house decision is a heavy one for us... I am really looking forward to the *perfect* place on those streets of gold! Meanwhile, we pray for wisdom for where to live here.
James 1:19-20
...let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
This verse struck me as a good one to remember for i-net use as well as face-to-face :-)

more from Wm. Pitt

DH looked tonight and found some more of William Pitt's quote...

Unlimited power is apt to corrupt the minds of those who possess it; and this I know, my lords: that where law ends, tyranny begins.

~William Pitt (1759-1806)

artist in residence

Miss Artist and a young friend enjoying the piano together...
...and at work with her cake decorating skills

Shhh - Researchers at work!

And here's our Professor looking studious in the library at the state capitol.

a little music

While at Living History Farms yesterday, I requested Miss MusicBox to make the pump organ sing for us. Very nice.

June's birthday girl

While I'm posting birthday cake pictures... Here's Cowgirl and her good friend.

happy birthday (March 09)

This was Cattleman & Popper's bday cake as decorated by their sibling Artist.
(I'm just practicing with adding photos ;-))

the rule of law

This quote from William Pitt was the highlight of DH's day yesterday. We were visiting the state capitol building with some extended family members.
