….which surely would gather wood along with food in the harvest?
Well, maybe if she had a house to heat through another long Iowa winter.
The boys wanted me to take some pictures of Robb and his crew since they have all been so helpful and friendly in our quest for firewood. So here’s our morning:
We brought a full load home ~
and hired Robb to deliver the rest with his dump trailer! =)
Life is good!
Looks like you will stay toasty warm this winter!
ReplyDeleteWhere was that tree?
ReplyDeleteYou'll be nice & cozy this winter :) And now this "ant" (me!) needs to get BUSY!
ReplyDeleteStaying "warm" is the plan =) The boys are working up a sweat already, and they haven't even split it yet!
ReplyDeleteJulie, the trees we brought home this week were all in town (SC). I found Robb the other week in another town cutting a tree down... and wished out loud I could have it for firewood... They said I could have all I wanted, so I waited for them to come closer to home. He got a contract from the city to take down 13 trees. We've missed some of them, but so far we have all ash which should burn nice and hot!
Well that's a sweet deal!
ReplyDeleteFirewood heats you three times, y'know... when you cut it, when you split it, and when you burn it ;D
Do you only heat with wood, or do you cook with it as well? That's a lot of wood! Hope y'all stay nice and warm.
ReplyDeleteJust heat, Cathy ~ It's our first winter in this house - without a gas furnace for backup! (There is electric back up, but who wants to pay for that?!) We should be heating our water, but that would require a fire year round ~ BUT that would sure help our electric bill :O for those long... hot... showers...
ReplyDeleteIs there gas available there? You could get a gas instant-hot (whatever they call it) water heater. Don't know if they make them for propane, though.
ReplyDeleteWe (Tim) opted for no gas appliances here ~ Yes, it would have to be propane at this location. We may consider switching to heating our water with the wood stove someday ~ It would require some further investment at this point, but it would help pay for that BIG stove out there! September's electric bill was more "normal" I guess ~ August's was downright ugly. We're also working on faster showers ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that wood going to good use. So much is wasted!
