Although building this house has been very frustrating at times, I am thankful to be here.  God has much to teach us, and the house has provided many, many lessons!

Here’s what it looked like a year ago  :-)

Note the two blessings peeking in the window!

Veteran's Day

I am interrupting my week of supposed silence to share my SIL's email  ~ Cathy's been sending a daily email with her "Thought for the Day" -- Well, today's must be passed along!

God and the Soldier, we adore,
In time of danger, not before.
The danger passed and all things righted,
God is forgotten and the Soldier slighted.

Rudyard Kipling

If you enjoy your freedoms, be sure to thank a veteran today!

If you don’t know one, personally –
send your thanks to Max H--------,
Active combat infantry Marine veteran of both the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.

Darn right his mama is proud of him and his service to our country!

 We are so thankful to God that Max returned home to us.  He was (is) a good soldier ~ very good at his job ~ but I believe the hand of God must have kept him safe.

choosing gratitude #10

 As challenging as your situation or your season of life may be, your frame of mind likely has less to do with distressing circumstance than with your need to develop a thankful heart.

Be careful for nothing;
but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving
let your requests be made known unto God.
Philippians 4:6

These quotes are from the corresponding calendar ~  September 2010.

I am thankful to God for this great report from Prague.  On November 3, the Rettigs wrote,

In the last 2 weeks we have had a lot of the same people come out to services. From 3-8 people are coming to each service. Tonight we showed a film on creation. We invited by email over 75 of the people who were at the campaign night about the film. 8 people came. That is actually very good!

God has been so good and faithful to answer the many, many prayers of the small group of believers in Prague.

days of thanks 11/8/2010

And he hath put a new song in my mouth,
even praise unto our God...
Psalm 40

Time sure flies...  I don't "feel" mature enough in life or in Christ to be this old  ;-)  But the calendar tells me that November 8, 1987, happened a long, long time ago from our earthly perspective ~ However, it was just a moment ago if you consider the length of eternity!

God has been so good to me all my life.  I'm so thankful he didn't let me go my own way forever.  Read more of my story here.  :-)

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving,
and into his courts with praise:
be thankful unto him, and bless his name.
Psalm 100:4

days of thanks 11/7/2010

Great things He hath taught us, great things He hath done,
And great our rejoicing thro' Jesus the Son;
But purer, and higher, and greater will be
Our wonder, our transport, when Jesus we see.

Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the earth hear His voice!
Praise the Lord, praise the Lord,
Let the people rejoice!
O come to the Father thro' Jesus the Son,
And give Him the glory, great things He hath done.

I am thankful today that I didn't have to cook Sunday dinner  :-)
or even do the dishes.

We had a nice sandwich fellowship at church
followed by a groundbreaking ceremony and worship service
out at the future building site of Faith Baptist Church of Cambridge

... and the weather was just P>E>R>F>E>C>T>

Beautiful day with God's people here in central Iowa!
Thank you, Lord.

Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners,
but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
 And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets,
Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
 In whom all the building fitly framed together
groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord:
 In whom ye also are builded together
for an habitation of God through the Spirit.
Ephesians 2:19-22
