FOR TODAY

Side note for my mom (and any other quilting mama) ~ You must see Julie G’s most recent baby quilt… click here. Enjoy!
Outside my window...
it is still raining. Tim’s dirt work last week improved the water run-off near the house, but there are plenty of mud and puddles elsewhere. I’m really glad we are not hosting the graduation party here!
fwiw, here’s this morning’s radar from MSN:
and this afternoon when I’m finally done with this post ;-)
I am thinking...
I still have not ordered additional senior pics from SmugMug or the photo books from Shutterfly. Ack!
Yah, I wrote that last week. But it’s still true. So I’m quite sure they won’t be here before Friday evening. Boo.
I am thankful …
for my husband and our mutual commitment to keep our wedding vows by God’s grace
for a surprise visit from out-of-state friends at Friday’s piano recital
for our friend Dave who came to help Tim on Saturday
for my Aunt Karen who will help in a special way Friday night by opening the carousel for our guests :-)
I am praying for...
... the Rettigs and the church in Prague ~ currently on furlough for this summer ~ I’m hoping we can see them! :-)
… the sale of my mother-in-law’s home
… Amber’s dad
… Grant S.
… people who live and work in Japan ~ Hiromi says the nuclear plant looks WORSE than before ~ She was wondering what the news media here is reporting these days… Nothing?
… Cinnamon ~ her Army hubby is in Afghanistan, her Marine son is in Japan for a few more weeks
… Amy W., a young wife/mom with cancer
… Sarita & Jeff need visas for their return to Israel
… our group going to Brazil – visas were to arrive this week – and lots of requirements to fulfill yet!
… my cousin’s little guy, 9mo Callan ~ He had surgery to begin correcting his health issues; they are also preparing to move across the country in a few months
… my friend J. as she finishes out the school year
… Michelle B., recovering still from her gall bladder surgery :-\
… folks in Joplin, MO, and elsewhere ~ so hard hit with tornadoes this year
… and especially marriages ~ meant to last a lifetime
From the learning rooms...
progress. yAy!!!
From the kitchen...
fresh bread, pumpkin muffins, cream cheese mints, chocolate-covered Ritz w/peanut butter, two more roasts cooked and shredded, ice ring in the freezer…
haystack, vegetable-barley-beef soup, beef, beef, beef, pizza… (Through tragic events, we gained some fresh beef on Saturday ~ I cooked 3 crockpots worth of roasts, and we’re still working our way through it. More in the freezer of course. And most of it to grind into hamburger when I get time and tallow and a date with my neighbor who has a massive grinder in her basement.)
last week’s cakes for Karly
I am creating...
well, I’ll be cutting wallet-sized photos now that I’ve got replacement parts for my rotary trimmer ~ Does that count as creative?
Friday we’ll be decorating in the shelter house.
Oh, and my basement fridge is full of chocolates ~ yummy creations if I do say so myself! ;-)
I am going...
to faint when I get the final tab from the dentist ~ another dd needs teeth extracted and we both need ‘work’
to catch up on the laundry today ~ Did you know Flylady says, “Nothing says ’I love you’ like clean und …clothes.”
I am reading...
Yes, you saw those last week too ~ I got sidetracked with some fiction again. Reality has been a bumpy road lately,…
I am hoping...
and praying for God’s will to be done in the lives of a married couple we know and love
I am hearing...
the washer and dryer, a couple kids goofing off (one with an operatic voice ~ is that a word?)
Around the house...
the Popper thinks we need to clean and organize the school room. Yah sure, you betcha. Just not this week, honey.
One of my favorite things...
brown paper packages tied up with string… or Priority Mail tape =)
Pondering these words...
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.May His beauty rest upon me,
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.~Kate B. Wilkinson
