FOR TODAY

Outside my window...
it's dark because it's actually still Sunday night :-)
I know that it is wet ~ we've had almost 48 hours of cold with rain/drizzle
Sounds crazy, but they are still predicting 85F tomorrow!
(that's 30 degrees warmer than today)
I am thinking...
there has to be a vent or hole somewhere in this house that the flies are coming in! ack! (swat, swat, swat)
I am thankful for...
...the Czech Bibles arrived in Prague on Friday and should be delivered to Rettigs on Monday (already!)
...75,000 John & Romans handed out so far
...surprise Birthday party they gave Kate and two other team members on Friday night
(I'll save those pics for a diff post)
...all the photos Mrs. Rettig has been sending from Prague
I am praying for...
- Kate (Miss Music Box) and Tim who are still in Prague with the rest of the Couriers for Christ team ~ As of Saturday, they have given out 75,000 John & Romans! Wednesday night is the special evangelistic meeting! (that's noon here in Iowa)
- Shari C., our missionary wife in N. Brazil was involved in a serious accident last week (fatal for the other lady, who was riding a bike). So far, the authorities are not holding Shari at fault, but we are praying for safety for her family and continued effective ministry there.
- Jaynee L., a missionary wife in Mexico who almost hemorrhaged to death on Wednesday, but was able to go home on Saturday! Praise the Lord! Read their story here.
- Makayla, one of Pastor B's little ones who has had kidney problems all of her short life ~ and is sick with a fever (again!)
- Dave H., who has been very sick the past week
- T.D., who has a couple job interviews in the works ~ and needs employment!
- A.K., a little boy from church who had to have staples in a head injury this afternoon
- my dad's biopsy on Friday
From the learning rooms...
The Computer Geek is doing fine in the second half of Algebra II, and the others started new math and grammar books so they say, "Easy Peasey" =) The Popper and the Cattleman seem to enjoy narrating to me about their elementary anatomy study.Still waiting for Miss Music Box to return before starting several combined classes for the high schoolers ~ Grammar/composition, Speech, Chemistry, Bible doctrines, Spanish.
History reading... Greenleaf Guide to OT History, Genesis: Finding Our Roots, Adam and His Kin, The Story of the Ancient World
From the kitchen...
Monday ~ leftover chicken/barley/vegetable soup (remember the chickens I roasted last week? So happy about how far that cheap meat stretched for us!)Tuesday ~
Wednesday ~
Thursday ~
Friday ~ pizza
Saturday ~
Sunday ~ beef roast
(hmmm, looks like the menu plan needs some work!)
I am creating...
a mental list of what I'd still like to accomplish before Tim comes home on Thursday I am going...
...to my mom & dad's for supper tomorrow night with out-of-town friends (and before Mom & Dad take off for AZ again)...to piano lessons/groceries on Wednesday?
...to Kids 4 Truth, youth group and prayer meeting
...to the airport on Thursday! (woot, woot)
I am reading...
Jeremiah ~ I'm wondering if I need to mix it up with something more cheerful??Choosing Gratitude by Nancy Leigh DeMoss
And the LORD hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear. Jeremiah 25:4
I am hoping...
to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto [me]
at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
I Peter 1:13
A hope that I KNOW is as good as done!
(from today's Sunday school lesson)
I am hearing...
...the washer just beeped for the end of cycle ~ Someone's Sunday clothes needed an immediate bath ... ahem ... Did I mention it's been raining?...the fridge is running (Better go catch it... ha ha ha ha)
Around the house...
...laundry to switch before I shut out the lights (hmmm, same as last week!)...the younger girls brought their 'big people' toys to the living room to play while we watched some football and part of an old movie this afternoon (Pork Chop Hill ~ Anyone seen it?)
One of my favorite things...
feeding people good food ~ Just call me Martha (as in, Mary's sister) :-)Thinking about these words...
from this morning's sermon
And being in Bethany in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster box of ointment of spikenard very precious; and she brake the box, and poured it on his head...
And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me...
Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her.
Mark 14:3, 6, 9
A few plans for the rest of the week:
schoolwork, housework... looking forward to Thursday night!
having my boys help me to put shelves up in two of the basement closets?
baking bread to sell at the antique mall Saturday?
